Unit 7 - Specialist Study

Presentation on Personal Development:

Auditions for Unit 8 26/03/19
I auditioned for the role of Columbia.
Song - I Didn't Plan It from Waitress the Musical:

Monologue - It's Terrible Being Nice from the play Goodbye Charles, playing the role of Cynthia:

Feedback I received
What Went Well:
  • stage presence
  • use of head voice
  • projection
  • confident vocally
  • open body language
  • characterisation and gestures
  • diction
  • didn't let nerves get the better of me because my voice was shaky
  • used the space
  • monologue was realistic
  • good song choice
  • seamless transition from lower to higher notes

Even Better If:
  • projection - work on diaphragmatic breathing
  • sustain the longer notes
  • work on belting
  • pace yourself
  • more eye contact
  • more characterisation and expression in the song - be angry
  • dynamic in monologue
  • bigger range in tone
  • don't tense shoulders
I was happy with my audition pieces because it was the best I could do on that day. I hit the high note in the song and as someone said I didn't let my nerves get the better of me despite my shaky voice. I think I had good stage presence in my monologue but I need to work on pacing myself.
